An Evening with Wayne Dyer
On Jan. 6th, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Hay House had a preview screening of Dr. Dyer’s new movie, Ambition to Meaning (now renamed The Shift) at the Park West Theater in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. When I heard about it, I immediately bought a couple of tickets to the preview as I heard Dr. Dyer was also going to be there in person to comment about the film.
I have been watching Wayne Dyer since I returned from Japan in 1997 on various PBS fundraising specials. I thought I knew about what he was teaching, but not until recently did I really “know” what it all truly meant. You see, there is a whole universe of difference between “knowing about” the teachings of wise men and gurus and actually “knowing” the teachings. First, I think “knowing about” a teaching always comes from someone here on this earth. But “knowing” the teachings takes on a whole new level where you know them as truths, like water and air, and in you, they are so true to your core being, you base your entire life on them. They are no longer teachings, but are irrefutable laws that always work in your life.
It’s hopefully coming to a point in my life where many of these teachings have become truths in my life and I have accepted them as being permanent and foundational parts of my being. Dr. Dyer has always been one of those teachers, even before The Secret, that has been a great influence on this new awakening in me. If you ever go to your local library and find an old video of Wayne Dyer’s PBS specials, definitely check it out. What he said back in the 90’s is still so true to this day and beyond.
His latest movie, Ambition to Meaning (Now renamed The Shift), is a culmination of his life’s work up to now, and I have no doubt he is still “growing” as a spiritual being having this human experience and will continue to write about it. Much of what he has mentioned in his works before, but even though the message is the same, we don’t really “listen” and so we need to hear it again and again and again until we get it. He quotes a passage from The Course in Miracles in which Jesus says, "If you want to be LIKE me, I will help you, knowing that we ARE alike. If you want to be DIFFERENT, I will wait until you change your mind…” Sooner or later, we’re all going to “get it”.
Your authentic self is way beyond your ego. Remember these words and think about them every day, no matter what. I hope it makes a difference for you:
